Hippest Hippos - Catalog CASE Project

Hello my stamping friends.

So today for our Follow Along Friday project I am sharing a CATALOG CASE. This was a challenge presented to my demo group last month, and today I will take you through my project and how the catalog project led the way to my creation.

First let’s start with the Catalog Sample! This sample comes from the Fall Mini Catalog and features the Sweet Candy Canes Bundle.

So if we break this sample down, we have a standard card 8 ½ x 5 ½ scored at 4 ¼. We have the striped background, which they made with the die that comes in the Candy Cane Dies, and coordinates with the Sweet Candy Canes stamp set. Then they have their colors and die-cut focal image, the sentiment tag, and some fiber and die-cut embellishments tucked around the focal image.

So here is my project…

My project features the Hippest Hippos SAB stamp set and coordinating Hippo Dies.

Striped Background - At first I just used my score board to add score lines on the diagonal every ½ inch and ⅛ inch alternating across a Basic White cardstock panel. Then I watercolor washed the stripes with Real Red ink and the Sweet Sorbet ink. After it was dry, I decided I wanted more stripes so I embossed it with the Striped embossing Folder. I had to run it through twice since I did it on the diagonal.
Focal Image - I stamped my hippo in Real Red ink and then I used my Blender Pen to blend and color in the image.
Embellishments - I die-cut from the Hippo Dies the heart embellishments from Real Red cardstock. I used an unraveled edge piece of the White Frayed Ribbon for my fiber. And I die-cut two leaf images from the Splendid Thoughts bundle.
Sentiment - My sentiment tag is die-cut from the Stylish Shapes dies.

So I kept the basic layout of the card and the idea of the striped background and central focal image with embellishments. But by changing the color selections and the stamps used, I have a whole new card!

Remember - CASE can mean Copy And Selectively Edit or Copy And Share Everything! I like both ideas, so pick a project that inspires or challenges you and create something of your own today!
