Floating & Fluttering for Freshly Made Sketches

Today I am playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 468.  They offer up a sketch idea, and then we as paper crafters create a project inspired by that sketch!  Here is the Sketch Idea offered and it will link you back to their blog to see all the other creations created as well.

I decided to create with the new Floating & Fluttering stamp set and coordinating dies.  I also pulled in a sample piece of the Fine Art Floral DSP.  I wanted something bright but also wanted to show off these fabulous new butterflies we have to offer.  Since this set has no sentiments, I also used the new Happy Thoughts stamp set.

Take a look at my Stampin’ Show & Tell video tutorial, and watch as I  go through the creative process.  This is a lovely 2-step stamping set, where we can stamp the outline image and then stamp the full color of the image with a second stamp.  Then see the full tutorial with the supply list below in this post.

So are you inspired by this fun project?  I just love the brightness of the colors and the way the pattern in the Fine Arts Floral DSP coordinates with the outline images of the butterfly. 

Floating & Fluttering Tutorial

Supplies:

Stamp Sets – 

Card Stock – 

Stamp Pads –

Misc - 

 

Measurements:

  • Basic Black Card Base     11 x 4 ¼ [scored at 5 ½]
  • Patterned Paper         5 x 3 3/4
  • Basic Black  Label        2 ½ x 3 ½
  • Basic White            3 x 3 ½ 
  • Basic White            4 x 5 ¼ 

Instructions:

    Stamping

  • Stamp your image with Memento.  Let dry before adding color.

  • Fill the image with color using the full body image with Bumblebee and the detail stamp with Pumpkin Pie.

  • Repeat with Garden Green ink for the leaf images.

  • Stamp your sentiment with Memento onto the bottom of the patterned paper.

  • Also stamp the inside panel of your card.

  • You will use the Garden Green ink again, and stamp behind and around the placement of your Basic Black label, on the front of your card.

    Die Cut Layer

  • Using the Fluttering Dies, die-cut the image from the Basic White cardstock.

  • Also die-cut a label from the Basic Black cardstock.

    Put it All Together

  • Now just layer your panels onto the front of your card and inside.

  • I did use dimensionals to pop up the butterfly die image.

Quite Curvy Cards with Artistry Blooms

 

Welcome to the STAMPING INKspirations BLOG HOP for January 2021.  This month we are focusing on celebrating ANYTHING NEW! So first and foremost, I want to thank Angie McKenzie for organizing us all and hosting this BLOG HOP!  We have a large group of paper crafters who really enjoy blog hopping together. I applaud the group as a whole for our creativity that is shared.  But also a special thank you for Angie who keeps us all together.

So our theme is ANYTHING NEW!  Which opens up the opportunity to craft any project we are inspired to create.  NEW can be different for all of us… it might be that we are celebrating the NEW YEAR.  Or maybe we have a new stamp set or stamping technique we want to experiment with and create a project to share with all of you. 

Today, I have a project that features the NEW Quite Curvy Bundle from the Spring Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!  I also adjusted my card design to use my patterned paper to its fullest potential and reduce scraps.  I did film a Stampin’ Show & Tell video to share, so enjoy the demonstration.

My project could easily be CASED, that means Copy And Selectively Edit, with the same products or other similar ones.  I share the full tutorial with you down below in the post, so if you need the materials & measures they are easily found.  You can make your very own projects following this idea, all you need is:

  • Cardstock

  • Patterned paper

  • Paper cutting die to create an edged design

  • Sentiment stamp

  • Embellishments

TUTORIAL: QUITE CURVY CARDS WITH ARTISTRY BLOOMS

 

Supplies:

Stamp Sets – 

Card Stock – 

Stamp Pads –

Misc - 

 

Measurements:

  • Card Base 11 x 4 [scored at 5 ½]
  • Patterned Paper 4 x 4
  • Die Cut Front 4 x 3   [die cut to remain at least 4 x 2 ¼ inches]


Instructions:

Die Cut Layer

  • Using the curved edge die, trim the 4 x 3 cardstock in the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.  Be sure to have the finished cut layer at least 2 ¼ inches long.

Stamp your Greeting

  • Stamp your greeting with Versamark ink.

  • Then dust with Heat & Emboss powder.

  • Use your Heat Tool to set the powder.

  • If you don’t want to heat emboss,  you can simple stamp your greeting with coordinating ink of your choice.

Add the Patterned Paper

  • With adhesive of your choice, add the patterned paper section 4 x 4 to the card front.

  • Line up the bottom and side edges.

  • Since the card base is 4 inches across, it should cover it completely.

Add the Ribbon Embellishment

  • Measure and Cut a section of ribbon about 6 inches in length.

  • Add adhesive to the back of the die-cut cardstock.

  • Wrap & tack the ends of the ribbon around the front of the cardstock and adhere to the back.

  • Now add Dimensionals to the back of the layer for mounting.

  • Now add this layer to the card front.

  • For a bow, cut another section of ribbon about 5 inches in length.

  • Tuck it under the ribbon band and tie a simple knot bow.

  • Trim the ends by bringing them together and trimming at the same time.
