Forever Blossoms

FOREVER BLOSSOMS

Supplies:

Stamp Sets – Forever Blossoms (151457)

Card Stock – Petal Pink, Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Whisper White

Stamp Pads – Memento, Blushing Bride

Misc. – Stamparatus Tool, Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon (149441)

Measurements:

Petal Pink 8 ½ x 4 1/4

Calypso Coral 2 x 2 , qty=2

Basic Black 4 ¾ x 3 ¾

Whisper White 4 ¼ x 3 ½ , qty = 2

Ribbon - 5 in & 4 in

Instructions:

Fold the Petal Pink base in half.
Stamp with Memento Ink, the image on the Whisper White Cardstock.
Add your sentiment.
Mount to Basic Black cardstock.
Wrap the 5 inches of ribbon around the back of the Basic Black and tack with adhesive.
Now slip the 4 inch ribbon under the band and tie a simple bow knot. Trim the ends of the ribbon by bringing them together and snipping at the same time.
Now add the Calypso Coral squares to the corners of the card front.
Now add the image layer on top.
Clean your stamp, and now stamp the image on the inside layer with Petal Pink ink.
Then stamp your sentiment with Memento over the top.

Stamparatus Tips:

Place your cardstock on the stamping service of the Stamparatus, leaving yourself some space along the edges.
Position your clean stamps where you want them placed on the cardstock, then press the clear arm or panel down to the stamp(s) to adhere.
Use the magnets to keep your cardstock in the same position, but don’t let them connect. If they snap together, they may break.
Ink up your stamps, and then swing the clear arm of the stampartus on to the cardstock to stamp your image.
If you don’t get enough of the image stamped, just repeat… nothing has moved so you can stamp again.
Want to change colors, just clean your stamps with the Stampin’ Mist on the arm of the stampartus. Use a Shammy to wipe them dry.

Christmas Song Inspired | Joy of Sets Dec 2020 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Joy of Sets Blog Hop for December. We were inspired by our very creative blog leader, Angie McKenzie, to create around our favorite Christmas Song this month. So I hope as you hop along from project to project, you will be humming along with the rest of us. I found that once I choose my inspiration song, I was humming it all week long!

I took some time thinking and remembering my childhood holidays for this blog post. What songs really stuck with me. We all have the fun and fast songs, but what really came to me strongly was the It Came Upon the Midnight Clear. Which thanks to a bit of curiosity, and the help of Wikipedia, I learned started out as an 1849 poem and then into a Christmas carol written by Edmund Sears, pastor of the Unitarian Church in Wayland, Massachusetts.

Well, the first stanza or verse I could recall clearing... the rest as I read through all the lyrics were not as well known to me. Interesting how some things stick and others don't! Here is how it starts:

It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old,

From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold:

"Peace on the earth, goodwill to men,

From heaven's all-gracious King."

The world in solemn stillness lay, To hear the angels sing.

So with all that running in my crafty brain, I decided to create a quiet scenic card for this blog project. I selected the Snowfront Stamp Set and tried for a mellow and soothing card. I wanted a snowy scene with a bit of sparkle, so I decided to start with a Shimmery White cardstock base. I like that is is sturdy as well, as I was thinking about water-coloring some elements as well. In the end I actually crafted two! You can let me know which one you enjoy more. I hope you enjoy both of them and have yourself a peaceful holiday season.

Peace On Earth - Card 1

So here is the first card. I wanted the feeling of openness, space, quiet, and calm. But I really wanted a RED cabin in the woods. So that may throw it off a bit from my goal. But I like it. I used Mossy Meadow ink for the trees and sentiment, Real Red for the cabin, Crumb Cake for the mountains, and Soft Suede for the tree and deer. I borrowed the sentiment from a retired set Greetings of the Season. I also made this card the unique size of 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 when folded.

Peace On Earth - Card 2

For this second project, I decided to go a bit more dense with the trees, and a bit more rustic with the scene. Here I decided to craft with purple and brown tones. So the trees were stamped in Highland Heather and Blackberry Bliss. The mountains are Crumb Cake again, and the cabin and deer are Soft Suede. I used a die from the Curvy Dies set which is new to create a mask. I masked the card base before I stamped the two tone trees. Then when I removed it, I used my Aqua Painter to blend and create the sloping lines. I also let the color watercolor-wash down the card, so that the colors all blend a bit. I did use the Blackberry Bliss ink for the sentiment, but I stamped off twice to lighten the color. This card is also unique in size, it measures 4 x 5 when folded.
