Love Cats - Color Challenge for Inkspirations Blog Hop

Love Cats

Color Challenge

Inkspirations Blog Hop February 2023

Hello my stamping friends.

So this month Angie challenged us with a Color Challenge!  And to be honest I had a hard time deciding what to do for today’s project.  First I looked through all my DSP for papers with these colors - guess what I didn’t find any!  So then I started to think about paper piecing and decided to go with that method.  Here is the challenge photo shared to inspire us with the colors!

So Saffron | Sweet Sorbet | Tahitian Tide | Orchid Oasis | Shaded Spruce

Okay, so I pulled lots of photos while I was crafting and thinking through my project.  And I put them all together in a Show & Tell SHORT.  So you can watch and follow along with my process for this card project.

Love Cats - Valentine

Love Cats - Valentine

Hello my stamping friends.

Check out this fun fold Valentine featuring the Love Cats stamp set.  This one I created for a demo swap with my BZB Team.  So I made a dozen copies of this at the time. This project is also one of the fun fold templates I am sharing in my monthly class in the mail this month!

This fold is really easy, as you are simply cutting the front of a standard card down into three panels.  The center panel then gets twisted and used as a focal point on the card. This also reveals the center liner of the card.

Here are the basic measures for this project.

Since I was creating multiples of this card for my swap I used my Stampartus to help me with placement and ink coverage.  For placement I decided where my cat image could be on my front focal panel.  Then I set up the stamp on the clear arm and marked my grid sheet to position my multiple pieces of cardstock in the same location each time.

Now for ink coverage, I sometimes find that with solid image stamps, getting even ink coverage can be tricky.  And sometimes I am more apt to rock and rock my block and end up with edges I don’t want.  So the Stampartus helps resolve both of these issues.  For better ink coverage, you can stamp the image with more than one layer of ink!  Yep, because the stamp doesn’t move and the paper doesn’t move, you can re-stamp the image with as many layers of ink as you desire.  It of course depends on how well inked your stamp pad is to start, but we all like them differently.  And the Stamparatus eliminates the rocked edges we sometimes get with handheld blocks.

After I stamped all my kitties, I used my Blend to add color to the heart!  Then with my Fine Tip Glue I coated the heart to make it like a gem! It does take a while to dry so be patient.  The sentiment was stamped and then each word was trimmed out to add back to the card.

So, isn’t this cute? If you want a full tutorial and template for this type of fun fold check out my monthly Fun Fun Template class.  Leave me a comment, let me know what you think of this project.

Happy Stamping,

Susan
