Awesome Otters - It's Your Birthday
So, here is my Awesome Otters card project for the hop today! I just think these otters are super cute, plus it is a big birthday month in my circle of family and friends this month. On this card, I used a couple of interesting techniques.
First, I created the background image, on the card base, by inking my dry embossing folder and then pressing the image to the cardstock. I had to do this twice to cover the whole front panel, but it's a technique I use from time to time.
The second, is cropping a paper punch. Check out the Pool Party sentiment in the project photo. I first punched out the tag from the Taylored Tag Punch. Then trimmed off one side of the pointed shape, to make it squared and it fits nice to the DSP. So don't get stuck with a tag that isn't necessarily the shape you want. Crop it to fit your project.
The full list of supplies and the full tutorial is shared here in my post. Just scroll down past the BLOG HOP links. Thanks for visiting today, and enjoy the rest of the hop projects.

Cut a 8 ½” x 5 ½” piece of Basic White cardstock. Score at 4 ¼”. Fold in half to form a card base. Burnish crease using a Bone Folder.
Let's start by adding some background “splotches” to our card base.
Using the Splatters Embossing Folder and Bermuda Bay ink, ink one side of the embossing folder.
Then press that inked surface to the front of the cardstock.
Use the embossing folder as a stamp. But you have to hold it still, and press or rub firmly to transfer the image.
Repeat to cover the entire surface with the splattered look.
Prepare the following pieces:
Bermuda Bay cardstock 3 ¼” x 4 ¼”
Simply Marbleous DSP 3” x 3” - die-cut with Stitched with Whimsey square framelit. Stamp the otter image with Memento Ink.
Basic White cardstock sentiment tag - use a scrap piece - stamp with “It’s Your Birthday” and die-cut with Tasteful Labels Dies
Pool Party cardstock - 3” x 2”, punch with Taylored Tag Punch and then trim off one banner end to square off. Stamp with “you are OTTERLY AWESOME”
On Basic White cardstock - scrap piece - stamp the otter image and the party hat with Memento Ink & then color with BLEND Markers. Use your paper snips to trim both images out of the cardstock.
Now build your focal point for the card.
Use liquid glue to adhere the otter over the top of the stamped image on the DSP. And also the party hat into place.
Then adhere that square to the Bermuda Bay mounting cardstock. Positioning it near the top with equal framing space around the top and two sides.
Then adhere, the cropped Taylored Tag sentiment.
Then, with dimensionals, add the banner sentiment.
Adhere the entire assembled focal image to the front of the card.
