Hippest Hippos for Freshly Made Sketches 544

Hello my stamping friends.

This project was created to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches 544 Challenge. Plus I had a team color challenge to play along in, so I crafted for both! So I decided to combine the two challenges and use the newest Sale-a-bration item I just received for this project today. Take a look at the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and the coordinating Hippo Dies.

The color challenge issued by my Queen Bee, Barb Brimhall, at the BZB Stampers Team, was as followed:

Calypso Coral

Old Olive

So, here is the project I crafted…

I used the three colors given as my cardstock options. I paired a printed pattern sheet from the Rings of Love DSP, also from Sale-a-bration, as a background print strip. I cut that at 4” x 2”, and then cut a break in it to extend it from edge to edge of my Starry Sky cardbase, 8 ½” x 4 ¼”. The cut is hidden behind the other panels added. An easy cheat to save on DSP!

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink on the cardbase, and heat embossed with White Emboss directly onto the Starry Sky card cardstock.

Okay then I die-cut two rectangles with the Scalloped Contours Dies from the Old Olive and Calypso Coral cardstock. I die-cut the umbrella element from the center of the Calypso Coral panel. Again the die-cut is hidden behind the Old Olive panel!

Next on Basic White cardstock I stamped my hippo with Memento Ink and then colored it with my Blends. I used Smokey Slate and Calypso Coral.

Then to add just a bit of bling, I used our Basic Rhinestone Gems to add a little sparkle to the umbrella!
