Iconic Dies | Faux Dry Embossing

Iconic Dies | Faux Dry Embossing

Hello my stamping friends.

So have you ever created a project using mostly die-cut elements?  This is a fun way to create a Faux Dry Embossing image.  Today I am using the Iconic Dies from the 2021-2022 annual catalog.  Sadly, I just got these dies and they are now on the Retiring List!  So good thing I get to share at least a couple of projects with you, just in case they catch your interest and you want to scoop them up before they are sold out and retired.

Watch the full Stampin’ Show & Tell tutorial and see how I put these two projects together!

Well, what die-cuts are your favorites and can you work them into a Faux Dry Embossed project? Leave me a comment, and let me know which dies you will be crafting with.

If you need a list of supplies or the written instructions, they are here as well.  Just keep scrolling to find all the details.

Happy Stampin,

Susan

Project Instructions:

  1. Cut a 8 ½” x 5 ½” piece of Soft Seafoam cardstock. Score at 4 ¼”. Fold in half to form a card base. Burnish crease using a Bone Folder.

  2. Cut a piece of Soft Seafoam cardstock to measure 4” x 5 ¼” and  dry emboss it with the 3D Bark folder.

  3. Die-cut a 7 fern image from the Iconic dies collection from another piece of Soft Seafoam cardstock  5 ½”  x 4 ¼”.

  4. On a piece of Basic White cardstock 3” x 1 /2” stamp your sentiment with Shaded Spruce ink.

  5. Die-cut from another Basic White cardstock piece 2” x 3” the two mushrooms die.  Then sponge some Crushed Curry ink on the tops for shading.

  6. Now put it all together.

    1. Start with adhering the fern die-cuts the dry embossed panel.  Use a liquid adhesive so that they lay flat. (dry emboss with die-cuts)

    2. Then adhere that to the front of your card.

    3. Next add the sentiment tag with dimensionals.

    4. Now add the two mushrooms for embellishment.

  1. Cut a 11” x 8 ½” piece of So Saffron cardstock. Score at 5 ½”. Fold in half to form a card base. Burnish crease using a Bone Folder.

  2. Cut another piece of So Saffron at 5 ½” x 3” and run it through the embossing machine with the Greenery folder.

  3. Now die-cut several blossom images with the Iconic Dies from another piece of So Saffron cardstock, also 5 ½” x 3”.

  4. With liquid adhesive add the die cuts to the embossed panel.  Then with your paper snips, trim the edges off.  Adhere this to your card front.

  5. On a piece of Basic White cardstock 3” x 1 /2” stamp your sentiment with Crushed Curry ink.

  6. From a piece of Soft Suede scrap cardstock, die-cut the branch image.

  7. Die-cut from a scrap of Pool Party cardstock the bird image. Using the scrap portion, sponge some Crushed Curry ink onto the sentiment tag, where you plan to place the body of the bird.  Add shading to the White cardstock.

  8. Now add the bird over the top. And the branch below its feet.

  9. Now add the sentiment tag to the card with dimensionals.
